This project consisted of updating a builder grade house with great bones.
The mostly open floorpan was functional, but needed some updates to function better and allow more light into the home. Finishes were dark and outdated and detail was lacking throughout. We reconfigured the kitchen layout including removal of walls to the adjoining dining and great room while separating a small prep kitchen to allow for a stronger range wall focal point and axis points in the heart of the home. A grand island grounds the gourmet kitchen with clean finishes including a full height quartz backsplash and professional appliances. Drywall returns were cased, ceilings and walls were detailed with millwork and the fireplace was given a facelift that modernizes the home decades while flattering the tall, steep proportions of the space. The primary bathroom, powder room and guest baths were updated with modern amenities and finishes while the furnishings throughout were kept spare and clean but comfortable and classic. Unexpected elements of bold color and artistic forms such as the entry chest and chandelier give character and personality to this Upscale Update for our wonderful clients.

“The design outcome matched our objective perfectly. We communicated that we wanted a contemporary and comfortable house with more use of day light. Each room has its own character using the above concept. The living room and kitchen are blending together excellently. The lights are phenomenal, including the ones in the entrance. The furniture selection in the living room in combination with the redesign of the fireplace works really well. We love to sit near our fireplace. The kitchen and pantry are not only beautiful, but they are also very practical. Giving our love for cooking and dining, this is another example how the design met our objectives. The adjacent dining room is a beautiful great place to entertain. The entry came out fabulously. The combination of furniture, artwork and light color are astonishing. The different bathrooms are all unique in their own ways and fit their purpose (e.g. master, guest and basement). The redesign of the guest bathroom is beautiful and significantly improved over the old design. The basement redesign including main, office, wine room and craft room makes it to another place in the house you love to be. The selection of the furniture fits it really well. At the end of the day, our master bedroom with the paneled ceiling is the perfect place to end the day.”
